During the ’40’s, how many times did commuter trains travel from Peoria, Illinois to Chicago?
I’m working on a story set during 1945-1947 and want to be historically correct on certain elements. I have characters traveling to and from Peoria, Illinois and Chicago. I discovered that the Rocket took about 2 1/2 hours to make that run one-way, but I’m unable to find information on how many times a day the Rocket, or anyother commuter train, traveled between these two major cities during this particular era. I am hoping that someone here can help me.
Below is the 1948 timetable. Peoria was not on the main line route of the Rockets. It was served by a spur line. See map below:

There were 2 daily trains from Peoria to Chgo. The 502 left at 7 AM to arrive 2:40 later and the 504 at 3 PM for a 2:45 trip. From Chgo there was the 501 at 10:35 AM and the 503 at 7 PM. Both outbound trains made the trip in 2:35.

The Illinois Central served both Chicago and Peoria but there wasn’t a direct route between them:

In the 40s, the run from Peoria (and other cities) were not called "commuter runs." They were regular trains and as I recall there was not only Rock Island but Illinois Central ran out of Peoria.
